James F. "Jim" Caldwell 91 of Ravenna died Sunday, February 1, 2015 at his residence with his loving family by his side. He ws born January 5, 1924 in Edinburg, Ohio to Charles O. and Ellen (Muirhead) Caldwell. Jim served in the US Army in WWII from 1943 to 1946, serving in New Guinea and the Phillippines and married his longtime love Doris (Porter) Caldwell in 1944. He retired from Ford Motor Company in Walton Hills where he worked in Security. Following his retirement, he and his wife spent their winters in Florida and traveling the United States. Jim was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church in Ravenna, an over 60 year member of the Ravenna Masonic Lodge, Ravenna American Legion and VFW, Scottish Rite of Youngstown, Ravenna Boat Club and the Ohio Defense Corp. He was an avid racing and boating fan. He built and owned midget race cars and built his own boat. Survivors include his wife of 70 years Doris M. (Porter), daughters Cynthia (Larry) Cline of Indiana, Lynn Walker of Ravenna and Suzanne Caldwell of Kent, son James II of North Carolina, grandchildren Matthew (Julie) Cline, Andrew Walker, Kaitlin Walker, Cara Schmauch, Jacob Schmauch, Stephanie Caldwell, Stacey Caldwell and Lauryn Caldwell and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson Adam Cline, sister Gladys and a brother Charles. Memorial calling hours will be from 11 AM to time of memorial service at 12:30 PM Thursday, February 5, 2015 at the First Christian Church of Ravenna with Reverend Perry Mattern officiating.
