James (Jimmy) Raymond Fijalkovich, age 43, of Ravenna Ohio passed away on Friday Dec. 9, 2011 at the Cleveland Clinic. Jimmy was born on June 4, 1968 in Garfield Heights, OH. The son of Jennifer (Stanka) Ackerman and the late Thomas Fijalkovich. Jimmy grew up in Shalersville. Their home bordered Portage County Airport named (TOM FIJALKOVICH FIELD) after his late father. Naturally Jimmy developed an interest in flying. He learned to fly single and multi- engine aircraft from his father. He even took lessons from his father and learned to fly in the very same Luscome tail dragger that his father learned in. Jimmy was a Communications Network Support Technician for Fujitsu, Alltel Wireless, and Verizon Wireless. He recently became the owner of "Time Out Sports Bar and Grill" in Freedom Twp. Jimmy was a very active person, mastering sky diving, snow skiing, scuba diving , water skiing among many other sports. His one passion was riding his motorcycle which he road all over the United States from Maine to Colorado, Canada to Florida. He has attended the motorcycle rally in Sturgis, North Dakota, and Bike Week in Daytona, FL. In 2008 Jimmy bravely underwent a heart transplant, but he never let it slow him down. He was still traveling all over the country, and often would take his son Jesse with him. Jimmy served his country in the US Air Force and often road with the Patriot Guard escorting home fallen soldiers.He also liked to fish , hunt and trap shooting. Jimmy will be sadly missed by : his mother and step father Jennifer & John Ackerman of Garfield Heights: his son Jesse Fijalkovich of Pennsylvania: his brother and sister-in-law David & Stacie Fijalkovich of Broadview Heights and many aunts, uncles, cousins and a multitude of friends. Calling hours will be at the Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Home 141 North Meridian Ravenna Ohio 44266 on Wednesday Dec. 14, 2011 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm, and where funeral services will be held on Thursday Dec. 15, 2011 at 10:30 am.
