James J. "Jimmy" Gaurrich

James “Jimmy” Gaurrich, 59, of Ravenna, OH passed away unexpectedly on May 9. Jimmy grew up in Russellton, PA and graduated from Deer Lakes High School in 1981. His passion for baseball and softball led to many years of coaching his daughters and other youth in the Pittsburgh, PA area for Deer Lakes, Springdale, Prospect, Freeport and Hampton leagues. He also coached travel fastpitch teams including the Pittsburgh Power and Pittsburgh Pride.  As a resident of Ravenna OH he also had a love for coaching children and adults through the Portage County Special Olympics in basketball, softball, and power lifting. His softball team recently won the state championship.  Jimmy was a scratch baker at AVI at Mount Union College in Alliance OH. His hobbies included all Pittsburgh sports teams, pawn shopping, baking, cars, boating, riding quads, fishing, sharing his fun and sarcastic sense of humor, and spending meaningful time with his family. Jimmy was always the first person to volunteer to help someone in need.  He was born on January 26, 1963 to the late Charles Gaurrich and Elizabeth Suprano Gaurrich. He leaves behind his wife Denise McCoy Gaurrich and daughters Brielle (Ray Micklo) Gaurrich of West Mifflin PA and Kira Gaurrich of Pittsburgh PA and their mother, Laurie Gaurrich of Pittsburgh PA. He is survived by his siblings Charlotte (Brian) Click, Chuckie Gaurrich, Mark (Jeff Clark) Gaurrich, and John Gaurrich.  Other loving family members include his stepsons Shaun and Ryan McCoy, his grandchildren Shaun, Brandon, Kali, Kole and Donald, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, colleagues, friends and his pets. Jimmy never met a stranger and he will leave behind a legacy of family, hard work, sports, and volunteerism.  Arrangements are being handled by Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Homes, 141 N. Meridian St., Ravenna, OH with viewing on Friday May 13 from 3 pm to 8 pm and service on Saturday at 11 am.  Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery Ravenna, Ohio.  Condolences and memories of Jimmy may be shared with his family at www.sscfuneralhomes.com.
