 
  
 James A. Prater 74, born again christian, of Kent went home to the arms of Jesus surrounded by friends and family on Sunday, January 29, 2012. He was born May 29, 1937 in Grundy, VA. He was a US Army veteran and had attended Brady Lake Baptist Church for 14 years. James was a retired supervisor for Automated Packaging Systems, has lived in Kent for the past 4 years and had lived for 42 years in Brimfield. Survivors include his wife of 53 years Betty (Mullins), sons James A. (Terri) of Brimfield, Thomas E. (Michelle) of Kent, grandchildren Jessie, Sarah, Christian in the US Navy, Courtney and Colden, great granddaughter Kaylyn Prater, stepgrandchildren Chase, Cody and Blake Ross, great stepgrandchildren Matthew and Tyler Reese, daughter in law Victoria Grow of Windham, and brother Buster (Carol) Prater of Ravenna. He was preceded in death by his parents Dillard Mullins and Pearl Keen, son Ronald and good friend Rev. Ray Mullins. Calling hours will be from 6 - 8 PM Thursday, February 2, 2012 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel. Funeral services will be at 11 AM Friday, February 3, 2012 at the funeral home with Reverend Virgil Elkins officiating. Burial will follow in Restland Cemetery in Brimfield.
