James H. Tarr, Sr (Big John), 65, of Rootstown passed away Tuesday August 16, 2011 at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna. He was born December 25, 1945 in Akron, Ohio to the late William and Margaret (Klingler) Tarr. Jim Tarr has lived in Rootstown most of his life and was a member of the Barberton Masonic Lodge. He retired in 2005 from Chrysler Corp. in Twinsburg after 28 years of service as a Tool and Die Welder a skill he was proud of, prior to Chrysler he had worked several jobs including the Tube Mill in Newton Falls, a milkman for Chestnut Ridge, delivered oil and for GM and Terex in Lordstown and in Parma. He also was an avid Hunter and loved spending time with his family , especially his kids and grandkids. Survivors include his wife of 45 years Phyllis(Thompson) Tarr, his son James (Stephanie) Tarr, Jr of Ravenna, his daughter Karen (Kevin) Autry of Ravenna, his grandchildren Jamie, Joe and Megan and his brother in law Ken Cox of Wayland also survives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Nancy and Pat and his loving golden retriever Blondie. There will be no calling hours a private family graveside service will be held at Homeland Cemetery Rootstown, Ohio.
