James E. "Jimi" True

James E. “Jimi” True, age 64 of Ravenna passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2026. He was born March 21, 1962 in Ravenna, Ohio.

People love Jimi’s smile, which could light up a room. He had a deep passion for music and was a true rock star at heart. Throughout the years Jimi shared his love of music by playing in numerous rock bands including, Fly Paper, New Regene, Fair Warning, Criminal Tool, Predator and many more. Music was a big part of Jimi’s life, and his talent, passion, and love for rock and roll will forever be remembered by those who knew and loved him.

Jimi is survived by his mother, Daphne True; his fiancée of 3 years, Patricia Hogan; his lifelong best friends from junior high school Wayne Zeman and Rick Nye; and many other dear friends who will cherish his memory.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the entire care team at UH Portage and UH Seidman Cancer Center for the exceptional care, compsddion and support shown to Jimi and Patricia Hogan throughout this difficult time.  Your kindness and dedication will always be deeply appreciated.  

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
