Janice M. Chebra (née Barber), 72, passed away on September 9, 2024, at University Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. Born on February 8, 1952, in Cleveland, she dedicated her life to her family, touching the lives of many with her warmth and generosity.
Janice graduated from Solon High School in 1970, and pursued higher education at Kent State University (Bachelor’s and Master’s) followed by The Ohio State University (Ph.D.). She spent her career as a respected professor, where she inspired countless students with her knowledge and passion for research.
A member of Saint Patrick's Church, Janice's quiet faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was also an enthusiastic gardener and cherished spending time with her family.
Janice is survived by her husband of 47 years, Michael Chebra, her mother, Frances Barber (née Seminatore), and siblings Judith Gillenwater, Joseph Barber, Jr., and June Jacko. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Barber, Sr., and sisters Joan Satullo and Jean Markert.
Janice's legacy is one of love, education, and faith, deeply felt by her husband, siblings, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her presence will be profoundly missed, yet her influence will continue to impact the lives of those she touched.
The Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Saints Cosmas & Damian (Twinsburg, Ohio) on Saturday, September 21, at 11:00 AM. A private burial will be held at Standing Rock Cemetery (Kent, Ohio) at a later date.
