Jean M. (Ferguson) Martin

Jean M. Martin, 88, of Mantua passed away Monday, February 14, 2022.  She was born March 16, 1933 in Ravenna, Ohio to Raymond and Hazel (Coit) Ferguson.  Jean married Donald Martin, who preceded her in death in 2019, following 64 years of marriage. Together, they enjoyed their involvement in the Crestwood Lions Club, traveling to numerous Lions conventions in the United States and Canada. Jean spent much of her time as a stay at home mother, raising her three children.  A loving mother and grandmother, her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Jean always thought of others for birthdays and special occasions, sending a special card to her friends and loved ones.  Jean enjoyed caring for her house plants, feeding the birds, and relaxing on her porch swing. Later in her life, she held several jobs, including the Crestwood High School cafeteria and providing home health care for the elderly. Jean was a member of the Hilltop Christian Church and Mantua community for over 50 years. Jean is survived by her children, Donna (Joe) Hull, Dan (Linda) Martin, and Dennis (Suzanna) Martin; grandchildren Korrey and Cody Hull, step grandchildren Derrek Hull, Mindy (Vince) Wasilewski and step great grandchild Izaiah, grandchildren Abigail and Anna Martin, Hayden and Logan Martin and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jack Ferguson. Calling hours will begin at 11:00 AM Friday, February 18 with funeral service at 12:00 PM at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel.  Reverend Matt Kluchar will officiate, and burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Mantua.  In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to Mantua-Shalersville Fire Department 10303 State Route 44, Mantua, OH 44255.
