Jeannette Doerfler, a long-time resident of Streetsboro, passed away Monday at the age of 87. Jeannette was born in Findlay, Ohio to her loving parents Harold W. and Margaret J. (Sheridan) Hamilton. Jeannette always expressed how lucky she was to have the best parents and always spoke about them with love and gratitude. In addition to her parents, Jeannette was preceded in death by her son Buddy Alcorn, daughter Barbara Alcorn, grandson Nicholas Barnhart, sister Joan Brinton, brother John Hamilton, and late husband Dominic Simone.
Jeannette remained social and outgoing her entire life with a gift for maintaining and nurturing long-time relationships. She hosted holidays and family traditions as well as her school class reunions and her “Widders Club” of widowed friends and support group. Jeannette called family and friends regularly. And you could always count on those phone calls consisting of Jeannette telling jokes and singing songs and retelling her favorite stories.
Everyone who knew Jeannette understood her dedication to her faith and her desire to give back. She was a parishioner of St Joan of Arc church in Streetsboro for 45 years. As a long-time volunteer for the Salvation Army, Jeannette recruited five generations of her family to bell ring during the holidays. Her family was never surprised when Jeannette brought home strangers in need to feed them a warm meal or share with them a holiday filled with love and hope.
Jeannette is survived by her husband James Doerfler and her daughters: Rebecca (John) Wachovec, Betty Jo Seabolt, her stepsons: Daniel (Beth) Simone, Fr. Earl Simone, Jim Doerfler, and stepdaughter Susan (Rick) Fischer. Jeannette also leaves behind her grandchildren: Michelle (Jeff) Bonomo, Stephanie Banks, Patrick (Britany) Simone, Caitlyn (Michael) Appleman, Alex (Allie) Wachovec, Brady, Nathan and Griffin Fischer, Sophia and Elliot Doerfler, as well as her great grandchildren: Ashley, Austin, Adam and Cory Banks, Bailey Jane Jursik and Leo Bonomo, and her great great grandchildren Aurora and Jaxson.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at St. Joan of Arc 8894 OH-14, Streetsboro, OH 44241 at 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. followed by a rosary service and Mass of Christian Burial at 12 p.m. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery Streetsboro, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Monastery of Poor Clares 3501 Rocky River Dr. Cleveland, Ohio 44111 or The Salvation Army.
