Jerry W. Abernathy, 73 of Ravenna, died Friday May 15, 2015 at the Woodlands at Robinson, He was born November 2, 1941 in Akron to the late Elmo and Martha (Summers) Abernathy. Jerry spent 36 years serving our country in the United States Air Force and also worked on the Alaskan Pipeline for 2 years and worked in engineering technologies for local companies before retiring.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Debbie Abernathy and by the mother of his four daughters Martha Abernathy. He is survived by his wife Janet Abernathy, daughters; Gina (Ron) Gill, Julie Kelble (David Haberman) and Carla (Jack) Bayonnet, son Kenneth Abernathy, 7 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, sister Linda Vandenberghe and brother Mark Abernathy.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 22nd at 3:00PM at the Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Home in Streetsboro with Rev. Bill Snyder officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Air Force and the Streetsboro American Legion. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00PM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society.
