Joanna Marie (Wise) Gilbert

Joanne Marie  Gilbert nee Wise "Nanny" of Ravenna passed away Saturday November 26, 2011 at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna, Ohio. She was born July 15, 1926 in Akron, Ohio to the late Glen Wise and Marcella Bacon. Mrs. Gilbert attended Rootstown High School and Kent State University. She was a lifetime member of Immaculate Conception Church in Ravenna, an Auxiliary Member of Robinson Memorial Hospital, an avid quilter and seamstress. What she treasured and enjoyed the most was spending time with her family. Survivors include her sons James L. (Janet) Gilbert of Greeley, Colorado, John (Suzie Howell) Gilbert of Hartville, Ohio, Jeff (Elise Andrews) Gilbert of Forest Hill, Maryland, Joe M. (Ann) Gilbert of Lakewood, Ohio, daughter Joan Elizabeth (Larry) Gilbert-Allen of Charleston, South Carolina, grandchildren Jason E. Allen, Amy A. Williams, Blake E. Gilbert, Tanner M. Gilbert, Matthew J. Gilbert, Sarah A. Gilbert, Joseph M. Gilbert, Elias F. Gilbert, Aedan T. Gilbert, great grandchildren Ava B. Dudek, Lilly B. Gilbert, Monroe Gilbert, Maceo J. Gilbert, Anna Wise Williams, Virginia A. Allen, brothers Richard Wise of Rootstown and James Wise of Ravenna. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James F. Gilbert on February 13, 2011 and her granddaughter Quinn Marie Gilbert. Calling hours will be Wednesday November 30, 2011 from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Homes Ravenna Chapel. Mass of Christian burial be 11:00 AM Thursday December 1, 2011 at Immaculate Conception Church in Ravenna. Burial will follow in Edinburg Cemetery Edinburg, Ohio. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials to be made to the Robinson Memorial Auxiliary 6847 N. Chestnut St. Ravenna, Ohio 44266.
