John J Gabriel

John J. Gabriel, 87 of Ravenna, passed away Thursday May 25, 2023 in Ravenna, Ohio.  John was born July 26, 1935 in Leetonia, Ohio to the late Joseph and Concetta (Fionda) Gabriel.  He was one of three sets of twins born to immigrant parents from Rogliano, Italy.  John was a graduate of Leetonia High School, served with the US Army in Germany,  worked as a machinist for Fordees Corp. in Leetonia and then he retired as a custodian from Ravenna High School.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings  Ralph Gabriel, Angeline Hively, Carmel Ferry, Mary Marino, Eugene Gabriel, Jean Weber, Anthony Gabriel, Elvera Gabriel and Guy Gabriel (John's twin brother).  He is survived by his wife of almost 65 years, Joyce Ann (Cummings) Gabriel whom he married December 27, 1958, his sons Mark (Jane) Gabriel, Joel (Susan) Gabriel and his grandchildren Tessa Gabriel, Julian, Jonathan, Jorryn and Jaidyn Gabriel.  In honoring his request, cremation has taken place.  Graveside services will be at Maple Grove Cemetery Noon Friday June 2, 2023.  Condolences and memories of John may be shared with his family at www.sscfuneralhomes.com.
