John M Julia

John Michael Julia, 85, of Ravenna, Ohio, went to be with the Lord peacefully on Friday, January 1, 2021. He was born January 15, 1935 in Brothers Valley, PA to Metro and Mary (Drabish) Julia.  In his early years he was a construction worker, and retired as an autoworker for GM in Lordstown after 29 years. He loved to make a long story short, which never ended short. John always had a new joke to share on a daily basis; he would lay awake at night thinking up the next quirky riddle to share. He had a passion for learning more about his ethnicity and the great foods his mom and grandma used to make. His hobbies included collecting arrowheads, watching western movies, fishing and hunting. He loved to listen to Country Western and Gospel music. He loved helping his children and he will be remembered by the numerous times he rolled up his sleeves and reached out to help others. He was preceded in death by his parents and youngest daughter, Lori Kesling. Survivors include his sister Anna Marie Julia, his daughters, Pamela Calvin and Lisa Torres, 4 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. John attended the Ravenna First Church of the Nazarene and Victory Baptist Church in Ravenna. Calling hours will be from 10 AM until time of funeral service at 12 PM Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel. Rev. Tracy Ogden Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Ravenna.
