John Benjamin Rusinko 79 of Ravenna, passed away Friday July 15, 2016 at the Woodlands at Robinson in Ravenna. Being a lifelong Ravenna resident, Ben was born on January 24, 1937 in Ravenna to the late John and Helen (Wanchick) Rusinko. He graduated from Ravenna High School and attended Kent State University. He retired from the Record Courier after 40 years of service and was a veteran of the US Navy where he was a photographer for two years. Ben had been active in the Ravenna Jaycees, Secular Franciscan Order and participate at Immaculate Conception Church as a greeter and Eucharistic Minister. He enjoyed traveling and made trips to Australia, Italy, Ireland and the Holy Land. Survivors include his siblings JoAnn (Paul) Gasper of Ravenna, Marian Miley of Ravenna, Theodore Rusinko of Las Vegas and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings Paul David, Victor, Alex, Doris Gerren, his nephew Alan Gasper and brother in laws Bill Miley and Jim Gerren. Calling hours will be Monday July 18, 2016 from 5-8 PM at the Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Homes Ravenna Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Tuesday July 19, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Church Ravenna, Ohio with Father William Kraynak officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery Ravenna, Ohio. The family would like to thank the staff of both the Woodlands at Robinson and Crossroads Hospice for their care of Ben. They ask that in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Woodlands at Robinson or Crossroads Hospice.
