John H. Wisniewski

February 13, 1921 — January 10, 2018

John H. Wisniewski, 96 of Ravenna passed away Wednesday January 10, 2018 at UH Portage Medical Center in Ravenna, Ohio.  He was born February 13, 1921 in Rock Creek, Ohio to the late Francis and Caroline (Glowacki) Wisniewski.  John has lived in Ravenna the past 18 years and was formerly of Garfield Hts., Ohio where he was a crossing guard for 18 years following his retirement from GM Chevrolet Plant in Parma.  He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Ravenna and formerly was a member of the Shrine Church of St. Stanislaus in Cleveland. John was a proud husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. John was a loving Brother, Cousin, Uncle and Friend. John dedicated his time to his community and country, he had volunteered at Longmeadow Care Center and the Center of Hope and was a veteran of the US Army serving in WW II.  Survivors include his children Bill (Pattie) Wisniewski, Richard (Jill) Wisniewski, Christine (Doug) DeWeaver, his grandchildren Jason (Natalie) Wisniewski, Jamie (John) Garden, Justin (Laura Bell) Wisniewski, Mike (Brooke) Wisniewski, Jonathan Ligas, Julie(Michael) Renne, Beth (Nick) Glaude, his great grandchildren John, Daniel, Jordan, Mikey, Evelyn, Wyeth, Genevieve and Liliana, his siblings Lucy Hentka (David) Karl, and Jeanette Hentka Lacki.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Genevieve (Zeliszewski) in 2006, his siblings Chester (Helen) Wisnowski, Bernard (Mary) Wisnowski, Ralph Wisniewski, Genevieve Wisniewski, and Dorothy Hentka (Chester) Kenzie and Jerry Lacki.  Calling hours will be Sunday January 14, 2018 from 2-6 PM at the Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Homes Ravenna Chapel.  Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 AM Monday January 15, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Church Ravenna, Ohio with Father William Kraynak officiating.  Committal Services will be Monday 2:00 PM at All Saints Cemetery in Northfield, Ohio.  The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations please made to the Center of Hope 1081 W.
