Joseph F. Steed, Sr. 89 of Ravenna passed away Thursday August 21, 2014 at his residence. He was born November 11, 1924 in Sistersville, WVA to the late Alonza and Lydia (Williamson) Steed. Formerly of California, Mr. Steed has resided in Ravenna since 2004 and was a member of the Ravenna Assembly of God Church. He retired from the Naval Weapons Center in California where he worked as an automotive specialists. He had served his country with the US Navy in WW II and the US Army during the Korean War. Survivors include his wife Joy D. (Blaylock) Steed whom he married January 24, 2004, his son James Steed, his step children David Steed, Donna (Bob) Kulon, Marilyn (Mike) Mayle, Joyce (Dave) Jones and Marsha (Bob) Thomas. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Cammie, his sister Elizabeth Masur , brothers George, Floyd, Alfred, Pete, Everett and step children Carolyn McElwain and Donald Everett, Jr. Calling hours will be from 10:00 Am until the time of services at 11:00 Am on Monday August 25, 2014 at the Ravenna Assembly of God Church. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery Ravenna, with US Army military honors provided by US Army and Ravenna VFW Post 1055. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the church.
