Josephine
"Jo" Wood, of Ravenna, passed away suddenly on her 86th birthday, September 1, 2013. Jo was born in Vonda, Saskatchewan, Canada. She moved to Ohio in 1952, after her marriage to George Wood. She retired in the late 1980's from Duracote Corp. in Ravenna. After retirement, her greatest joy was spending time with family, especially her 21 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Each child had a special bond with "Grandma Jo". She will be sadly missed but her memory will be cherished forever. Surviving are her four children, Karen Geib of Ravenna, Donald (Diane) Wood of Burleson,
Texas, Donna (Craig) Lucas of Kent, and Patricia (John) Buterbaugh of Ravenna; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister Frances of Ontario, Canada; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death was her husband, George in 2002, and 11 brothers and sisters.
We'd like the memory of our mom and grandma to be a happy one, as she would always sing, with her foot tapping and fingers flailing, "Pack up your troubles in an old tin can, and Smile, Smile, Smile!" Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 6-8 PM at the Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel, where services will be held on Friday at 2PM. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.
