Julia Black, age 66, of Rootstown, Ohio passed away on September 8, 2016. Julia was born to Hisle Durham and Minnie Woods on May 16, 1950 in Virgie, Kentucky. She is preceded in death by her husband, Wilber C. Black Jr. and by her father. Julia is survived by her daughters Yvonne (Scott) Brunswick and Trinette (Mykel) Donaldson. Her memory will be cherished by her six grandchildren: Ethan, Becca, Triniti, Seaira, Teagan, Xander, and by her great grandchild on the way Baby Carson. Julia is also survived by her sisters; Sonja (Benny) Lester of Florida, Sandra (Butch) Gunter of Texas, Donna Haney of Kent, OH, Sharon (Joe) Armstrong of Texas, and by her brothers; Samuel (Cassondra) Durham of Ravenna, OH, James (Sherry) Durham of Brimfield, OH, and Timothy Durham of Rootstown, OH. Julia was known for being a bargain shopper, she enjoyed watching movies, and listening to “oldies, but goodies” music. What she loved most of all was spending time with her family. She was a mother to all who knew her; she raised her siblings, and took care of anyone in need. Julia was the matriarch of her family, and always knew how to bring everyone together. She will be greatly missed by many. Calling hours will be held on Monday, September 12, 2016 from 3 to 6PM at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home’s Ravenna Chapel. The funeral service will start at 6PM at the conclusion of calling hours. Interment will be at Maple Grove Cemetery at a later date.
