Katherine (Geiger) Furrer

Katherine Furrer, 88 of Ravenna, passed away  Tuesday  April 10, 2012 at her residence.  She was born August 25, 1923 in Akron, Ohio to the late Anton and Katherine (Welts) Geiger.  Mrs. Furrer has lived in Ravenna the past 65 years  and was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church in Ravenna.  Survivors include her husband of 62 and 1/2 years , George  Furrer, her sons Tom (Mary Jane) Furrer of Granby, Connecticut, George (Karla) Furrer of Columbus, Ohio, her daughters Margaret (Stan) Hayden, Melanie (Ed) Rafferty, Carolyn (Jerry) Keegan all of Ravenna  and Mary Lou (Kim) Geritz-Furrer of Santa Barbara, CA.  She is also survived by her grandchildren Jessica, Emily, Melanie, Ryan, Nicole, Joe, Amy, Aliesha, Christopher, Julie, Addie May, Mackenzie, Jake, Sam,  five great grandchildren and brother Joe Geiger of CA.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Pete and Bill Geiger and sisters Elizabeth Behling and Helen Schwab. Her greatest joy was her family. She will forever be remembered for a legacy of love and the live's she touched. Calling hours will be 6-8 PM Friday April 13, 2012 at Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Homes Ravenna Chapel.  Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday April 14, 2012 at Grace Episcopal Church  Ravenna, Ohio .  Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery Ravenna, Ohio.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Grace Episcopal Church or Robinson Memorial Hospice and Visiting Nurse.
