Keith Loren Friend

Keith Loren Friend, 61 of Ravenna, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday June 1, 2016.  He was born on a Saturday morning,  April 30, 1955 in Ravenna, Ohio to the Late Loren Friend and Mary (Thompson) Friend.  As a youth, he began his love for sports by playing baseball until graduation from Southeast High School.  While attending high school he also played basketball, football and was a member of the cross country team; he was an all around athlete.  Following retirement of over 36 years with the GE Distribution Center in Ravenna, he was hired as an usher for the Akron Rubber Ducks during the 2015 season.  Keith loved helping others enjoy their visit to the ballpark.  Keith was also an avid Cleveland Indians, Browns and Cavaliers fan.  He was a 'Friend" to all and truly lived up to his name.  Keith was a beloved husband and best friend of almost 21 years to Donna (McElhaney) Friend, a dedicated step father to Jenna (Jeff) Panhorst of Pittsburgh, PA, David (Laura Andrews) Spano of Northfield, OH, Larry  (Tatum ) Spano and his son Nikola of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, loving son of Mary Friend of Ravenna  and loving brother to Kelleen (Rusty) Mix of Deerfield.  In addition to his father, Keith was preceded in death by his sister Kristen Friend.   Calling hours will be  Tuesday June 7, 2016 from 1-3 PM and from 5PM until time of  a Christian service at 7PM at the Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Homes Ravenna Chapel with Pastor Stephen Sparling and Pastor Bobbie Mix Officiating.   Private Family burial will be held at Edinburg Cemetery .  The family asks that memorial donations be made to 'Meals in Motion' the organization whom Mr. Friend was recently employed.  Condolences and memories of Keith may be shared with the family at www.sscfuneralhomes.com
