Kemper R. Hensley Iii

December 4, 1954 — October 20, 2012

Kemper Rockfee Hensley III passed away peacefully at his home Saturday, October 20th with his family there, after a long illness. He fought a hard battle for many years, but decided himself it was time to go home.  He was born December 4, 1954 in Ravenna to the late Russell and Lillian (Heeter) Hensley. He grew up in Ravenna , graduated from Ravenna High School where he was active in wrestling, football and choir. He was all league his senior year in football. He loved sports, played softball for many years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He worked for Ironworkers Local #17 in Cleveland for 25 years before retiring. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Rootstown. He taught the children in primary for over 20 years, who were all dear to him. He also generously donated to many organizations, especially Native Americans, and sponsored children overseas in Africa and Ecuader. He was a member of friends of the library in Ravenna, donating thousands of books each year. A gentleman, he had a big heart and a wonderful, warm sense of humor.  He married Marion Croyle Hensley on April 14, 1979. They had four beautiful children and four grandchildren, whom he loved to watch in all sports activities and school functions. Survivors include his wife Marion, children Brian Hensley of Cleveland, Brittany (James Wulzen) Hensley of Ravenna, Bethany (Sean) Kainrad of Ravenna and Brandon Hensley at home, grandchildren Justin, Corbin, Breena and Genevieve, sisters Kelly Hensley, Karla Carbaugh and Kendra Hensley, brothers Kevin and Kent Hensley and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents Kemper and Lena Hensley and Raymond and Gladys Heeter.  Kemper's family will be forever grateful for all the loving care and medical attention he received over the years he was ill. They would like to thank Dr. Dean-Scott his family physician, Dr. Sleik and Dr. Rubin and the NEOCS staff, Dr. Kelly and the IMS physicians at RMH, Dr. Panzeter, Dr. Gusz, Dr. Cline, Dr. Francis, Dr. Windy Cole and all the staff at Streetsboro Robinson Wound Care Center, Akron Nephrology, Dr. Zidehsari and Chris Walker, P.A. CHF Clinic, Cornerstone Medical supply, PARTA Services, Giant Eagle Pharmacy in Ravenna, staff at Fresenius Dialysis Center in Streetsboro, Ravenna Visiting Nurse and Hospice especially Linda, and all the many angels, our family, on the staff at Robinson Memorial Hospital, ICU, CCU, SDU and especially 3 East and all the departments who took care of Kemper with love and respect. "Thank You". Calling hours will be held from 5 - 8 PM Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel. Funeral services will be at 11 AM Thursday, October 25, 2012 at the funeral home with Bishop William Mars officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park In Ravenna. Memorial contributions in Kemper's name can be made to Robinson Memorial Hospital Foundation.
