Larry L. Witt, Sr. 79 of Charlestown died Monday, October 12, 2015. He was born July 1, 1936 in Hudson, Ohio to Ernest and Johanna (Erdman) Witt. A Charlestown resident since 1973, he worked as a mechanic for Terex Corporation in Hudson and had a passion for automobiles as a beloved local drag racer, pull truck driver and high performance engine builder. Survivors include his wife of 20 years Marie (Brown), daughter Kay Davenport of Plaska, TN, sons Bob Davenport of Streetsboro and Carl Lumbert of Garrettsville, 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren and a sister Patsy Rosser of Stow. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Molly in 1993, daughter Sharon Heckman and sons Victor Davenport and Larry Witt, Jr. Calling hours will be from 5 - 8 PM Saturday, October 17, 2105 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel. Cremation will follow the calling hours. Private burial will take place in Charlestown Cemetery at a later date.
