Leo J Dickel

September 24, 1934 — May 1, 2022

Ravenna

Leo J. Dickel, 87 of Ravenna, closed his eyes in his home on Sunday, May 1, 2022 and the first thing he saw when he opened them again was Jesus. Leo was born on September 24, 1934 in Frostburg, Maryland to the late Joseph Leo and Idella M. (Gordon) Dickel. After graduating from high school he served as a medic in the United States Army during the Korean War. When he moved to Ohio he worked as a machinist at Ward Riddle and then as a truck driver for Cook Motor Lines.

He was a family man and a friend to everyone. He was a man who would give you his last dollar or the shirt off his back. He was a prankster and always the life of the party. He had a love for Jesus, his personality was contagious and no matter where he was, there was a good time. If you met him once you never forgot him, and he was your friend for life. No matter what he was doing, whether it was hospital visitation, putting on a dinner, or hosting a fellowship he made it his goal to make everyone laugh. He enjoyed hunting and fishing trips with his friends but always put God and his family first.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Betty June (Molisee) Dickel, his children Julie Ann Tomlinson, Judy K (Edward) Bolton and John P Bryant, and one sister Barbara Ash. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren Brandon Tomlinson, Cortney (Christopher) Brode, Edward Boulton, Jessica (Rick) Ross, Jennifer (Mark) Schmidt, Jill Bryant, Janelle Bryant and his seven great grandchildren Zachary, Alexis, Andre, Ethan, Arya, Gwendolyn, and Emery.

In addition to his parents, Leo is preceded in death by his grandson Trevor Tomlinson and siblings William Dickel, Donald Dickel, Betty Hutzell, and Genevie Railey.

“For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” Romans 8:18
