Leonard M. "Lenny" Polichena 47 of Windham passed away Sunday, March 17, 2013. God saw that Lenny had suffered enough and took him home to rest in peace. He was born October 1, 1965 in Ravenna, Ohio to Leonard P. and Dee (Silva) Polichena. he was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Windham. After graduating from Kent Roosevelt High School he worked for Polichena Motors in Ravenna and NAPA in Streetsboro until his illness made it too difficult to work. Lenny was a Captain with the Windham Fire Department, a dispatcher for Windham Police Department, worked for Gano's Auto Clinic and spent the last year working with his parents at Birdie Shack. He was everybody's "buddy" and would help anyone in need, putting himself last. Survivors include his parents of Kent, fiancee' Elaine Grant of Windham, daughters Victoria "Tori" & Alexandria "Lexi" both of Windham, sons Michael and Robert Polichena and Dakota Harmotta all of Windham, brother William (Lisa) Myers of Monroe Falls, several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be from 5 - 7 PM Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel. Funeral services will be at 11 AM Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the funeral home with Fr. Leo Wehrlin and Fr. James Lang officiating. Cremation will follow the service. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials to the Portage County APL, PO Box 927, Ravenna, OH 44266 or Windham Fire Department, 9621 E Center St, Windham, OH 44288. The family wishes to thank everyone who has loved Lenny and supported them with prayers and food through this difficult time.
