Louie Barbuscio

June 18, 1952 — May 5, 2025

Mantua, Ohio

Louie Barbuscio, age 72, of Mantua, loving husband, favorite uncle and friend to many, entered into eternal rest on May 5, 2025 after an 8 year battle with cancer. He was born in Cosenza, Italy to Alfredo and Florence Barbuscio. At the age of 6 he immigrated to America through Ellis Island and spent his youth in Cleveland. He worked at Columbian Vise Mfg for 25 years and also worked various jobs in retail, landscaping and his last and favorite job as a laborer in the Village of Mantua. He also worked 10 years as a Friday night bingo security guard at St. John Nepomucene in Cleveland. In his younger years he was on many bowling leagues. Louie was an avid Browns and Indians fan. He liked to attend stock car races at Cloverleaf, Barberton, Lorain or wherever his brother-in-laws or nephews raced. In his later years he loved old westerns especially Gunsmoke. His greatest joy in the last years were the great nieces and great nephews. He loved to make them laugh and they loved to sit on his lap and make him joke and laugh with them. He hated getting old with a passion and the inability to do so many things; but despite his many health issues he never gave up. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary, of 53 years. Also surviving is his brother, Tony (Rose) and his brother-in laws, Joseph (Darlene) Hilliard, Anthony (Sandy) Hilliard and Robert (Heather) Hilliard. His surviving sister-in-laws, Evelyn (David) Crouch and Rose (Tony) Barbuscio. He is survived by 13 nieces and nephews and 27 great nieces and nephews and 1 great great nephew. He was preceded in death by his loving parents and his mother-in-law whom he loved dearly. He attended Crossroads Community Church. Viewing will be held at Shorts Funeral Home 9781 Page Rd Streetsboro, OH on Friday, May 9 between 3 pm and 8 pm. memorial services will be held at Crossroads Community Church 9018 State Rte 44 Ravenna OH on Saturday, May 10 starting at 10 am.
