Lydia “Maxine” Jones, 93, of Rootstown, Ohio passed away peacefully at home on February 15, 2023.  She was born in Twinsburg, Ohio on January 16th, 1930, to Franklin and Pleasant (Russell) Schumm.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 36 years, Arden J Jones, sisters Velma Stress, Adella Roosa and brothers Albert, Andrew, Dixon, Walter and George Schumm, sons-in-law Howard Morgan, Michael Becker and former daughter-in-law Delores (Dee) Jones.  She is survived by her son James (Paula), daughters Sally Becker and Carol Jones and daughter of the heart, Debbie Smith-Burton.  She is also survived by grandchildren Jeff (Kelly) Jones and Amy Persky, great grandchildren TJ Guy (US Army), Kelsey, Madison and Aiden Jones, step-grandchildren Bryan and Valarie Stephenson, step great- grandson, Brandon (US Marines) and granddaughter of the heart, Becky (Gray) Sobiesienski plus many nieces and nephews. She was a religious woman who lived her whole life by her Christian values. She loved animals, gardening, music and children. For over 30 years she babysat other people’s children so the parents could go to work and not have to worry about the safety of their children or the high cost of daycare.  Her heart was always open to helping others in need.  She loved playing her weekly card games with a very close group of friends. She loved laughing, entertaining, dancing, but most of all she loved having her family close to her. The family would like to give a special thanks to Kate Phillips RN of Attentive Homecare for her dedication and excellent nursing and patient care skills. Also, a special thanks to the Harmony Hospice for their great care, kindness and professionalism.  Private Family services will be held at Homeland Cemetery Rootstown, Ohio.  Condolences and memories of Maxine may be shared at www.sscfuneralhomes.com.
