Maria M. Jenkins 81 of Ravenna died Thursday, March 2, 2017. She was born November 7, 1935 in Amsterdam, Holland to Marten and Guurt (VanAlderen) Schutten. Before moving to America she was a professional singer performing with her band, The Three Hearts, throughout Europe and USO venues. Maria enjoyed working as a babysitter providing child care for others. Maria found much joy in cooking and feeding those around her; whether family or friend, if you came to visit you received a meal and probably a to go container. Survivors include her children Robert (Colleen) Jenkins of Aiea, Hawaii, Martina (Thomas) Hughes of Tallmadge, and Teresa (Vernon) Sakofske of Kent and 4 grandchildren; Jett Jenkins, Riann and Zach Hughes, and Marissa Flaitz. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Ricus, Marten, Johan, Guurt, Hedrik and Joop. There will be no calling hours or services, cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel.
