Mary Rose (Jackey) Sott

Mary Rose Sott, age 82 of Ravenna, OH passed away, Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Tamarack Ridge, Kent, OH. She was born in Louisville, KY on June 7, 1941, daughter of the late Joseph and Magdalen (Wissle) Jackey. Mary Rose retired from Matco Tools in 2007.  She cherished spending time with family, and enjoyed crocheting, bowling, board games, and was a devoted Cleveland “Indians” Guardians fan. She was a woman of strong Catholic faith and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Parish in Ravenna, OH, where she actively participated in the Prayer Shawl and Infant of Prague groups. Mary Rose, a cancer survivor, dedicated many years to volunteering for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. She will always be remembered as a wonderful mother and grandmother with the most beautiful kind soul and will be deeply missed.

Preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Gerald Sott, and brothers Bob, Jerry, and Jimmy Jackey, Mary Rose is survived by her sons James Sott of Ravenna, OH, and Joseph (Vicki) Sott of Brimfield, OH. She is also survived by seven grandchildren Christie (Brian) Matulka, Caitlin (Randy) Jones, Julia Sott, Olivia Sott, Kyle (Katelyn) Sott, Morgan Sott, and Aubrey (Julian) Hersh; two great-grandchildren Kalina Hersh and Sophia Sott; brother Don Jackey (Pat) of Louisville, KY.

Friends and family will be received Tuesday, April 23, 2024, from 4 to 6 PM at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home, 141 N. Meridian Street in Ravenna. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at Immaculate Conception Church with Reverend William Kraynak officiating. Entombment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery.

Mary Rose's family expresses gratitude to the medical staff and caregivers at Tamarack Ridge in Kent, Ohio and Akron Summa Hospice for their compassionate care.
