Mary Catherine Newman

Mary Catherine Wortkoetter Newman of Ravenna, Ohio went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 30, 2026. Mary was born on December 8, 1958 in Bryan, Ohio to Richard and Wilma (McCann) Wortkoetter. On October 18, 2003, Mary married her soulmate James Newman, Sr. Mary is survived by her husband, Jim, brother Donald Wortkoetter, son Cody (Sarah) Yoney, daughter Megan Yoney (Rich O’Callaghan), son James Newman Jr (Sarah), son Jeff Newman (Macy), grandchildren Ally, Maddy, Patrick, and David, Aunt Carol Wortkoetter, many cousins, and fur babies Nemo and Star. She was proceeded in death by her parents, brother Ken Wortkoetter and fur babies Rusty, Blitzen, and Buddy. Mary was very active in the Ravenna community, retired Oct. 5, 2023 from Independence, Inc. (Epic) after nearly 40 years, was co owner of J Newman Sign Company, then as a Board of Elections poll worker, and an active member of the Ravenna Moose 1234. Mary loved camping, crafts, and spending time with her family and friends. A cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will take place 1:00 PM Saturday September 19, 2026 at Epic (Independence) 575 E. Lake St. Ravenna, Ohio 44266.
