Mary M. "Peggy" (Hanna) Stefansic

Mary Margaret Stefansic “Peggy”, 83, entered peacefully into her eternal rest on February 1, 2017 at the Justin T Rogers Hospice Care Center, Akron, Ohio.  Mary was born on June 13, 1933 in Canton, Ohio to Lloyd and Mary McCartney Hanna. She was baptized into the Body of Christ in 1977 at Portage Community Chapel, formerly Portage Community Baptist Church in Ravenna, Ohio. She and her husband, Ray, were resident managers of Green Acres Apartments in Ravenna for many years. Peggy enjoyed restoring antiques, was a gifted writer of sacred songs and poetry and generous to a fault. She also served Portage Community Baptist Church in the nursery and the church office. She loved singing in the choir and enjoyed teaching small group women’s Bible studies. Peggy is preceded in death by her husband of forty years, Raymond Paul Stefansic, brother Jack, and sister, JoAnn. She is survived by her children, Paul (Barb) Yarolin; Jeffrey (Adeline) Merrill; Susan (Jim) Carlton, and stepson, Tom (Elaine) Yarolin; fourteen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 3, from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home, 141 North Meridian Street, Ravenna, Ohio. A Funeral service will take place at the conclusion of calling hours officiated by Reverend Barry Shahan, followed by a private family burial at Maple Grove Cemetery, 6698 North Chestnut Street, Ravenna. Memorial donations in Peggy’s memory may be made to the Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center, 3358 Ridgewood Road, Akron, Ohio 44333.
