Mary J. (Varner) Burkhart

Mary J. Burkhart 80, formerly of Freedom Township and Johnstown, PA died Thursday, January 13, 2011. She was born May 27, 1926 in Johnstown, PA to Merle D. and Nancy R. (Hunt) Varner. Mary has lived in Portage County since 1965 and attended the Troy Baptist Church in Troy Township, OH. Survivors include her daughter Betty Novak of Rootstown, sons William D. (Wendy) Burkhart of Freedom Township and Jeffrey L. (Molly) Burkhart of Tennessee, 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and a sister Hazel Rager of Johnstown, PA. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Violetta Mae Thomas and brothers George B., Blair F., Robert E., and Merle D. Varner. Calling hours will be from 3 - 6 PM Sunday, January 16, 2011 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, January 17, 2011 at Grandview Memorial Park Chapel with Pastor Jeffrey L. Burkhart officiating.
