…”They shall run and not grow weary, they shall walk and not be faint”…Maryjane Hood, 78, went home to be with our Lord on March 16, 2017. Maryjane grew up in Alliance, OH, for the last 20 plus years she has resided in the senior villa in Rootstown, OH. She was an LPN and also served in the United States Army Nurse Corps. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, John and Edith (Parrish) Smyth, of Alliance, and also by her husband Roy. She is survived by her sister, Linda Welsh. She is also survived by several friends who have also become her extended family over the years; this includes Pamela Barber of Atwater, who she called “her adopted daughter”, along with Pam’s children: Josh and Ami McComb, who she said, “were her grandkids.” Pam’s grandson, Tony, was her “great-grandson”. Pam’s fiancé, Bud Roeder, and all the cousins and aunts welcomed her into the family with open arms. Her extended family also includes all the dear and kind residents of Rootstown Senior Villa. A special thanks and appreciation is given to Maryjane’s long time health aids; Vanda Wilson, and Lynn Dustman, who became like daughters to her. Her friend and former health aid Kim Grantham, had a special place in Maryjane’s heart as well. Maryjane will also be greatly missed by her little dog and loving companion, Blackjack. Maryjane’s greatest love was her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She loved attending Atwater United Methodist Church, and singing all the old hymns. She enjoyed music, drawing, and painting, and doing crafts and ceramics, with her friends Linda and Ronnie Hall. Although it was hard for her to get around, she loved going out to dinner, and looked forward to her fun day at the Portage County Fair, and the annual Christmas Shopping Trip. Maryjane loved sitting out on her front porch, and visiting with everyone who walked by, or came to see her. She would get so happy when people would stop to talk and enjoy her beautiful flowers with her. Her smile was so beautiful and she had the most kind and loving heart of anyone that the good Lord has placed on this Earth. Once she loved you, you were loved unconditionally. Our hearts are saddened by losing her, yet we know where she is now. The special lady who was our angel here on this Earth is Heaven’s angel now. We love you Maryjane, soar on wings like eagles dear friend. Friends will be welcome Thursday, March 23, 2017 from 5-7PM at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Homes’ Ravenna Chapel. The funeral will take place at the funeral home on Friday, March 24, 2017 at 11AM. A private burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial donations to Rose’s Rescue P.O. Box 33 Rootstown, OH 44272.
