Matthew A. DeNardo, 93, a longtime resident of Ravenna, husband of Rose and father of Beth, died Saturday, April 1, 2017 at the Woodlands in Ravenna. A World War II veteran, he was born in 1923 in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, the oldest of four siblings, to Patsy and Rosa (Sabatina) DiNardo. He attended Aliquippa High School and worked at Jones & Laughlin Steel Company before being drafted into the Army, where he served until the end of the war. He attended and graduated from Barber School in Pittsburgh. For many years, Mr. DeNardo worked as a Barber in Akron, Kent, Cuyahoga Falls and Ravenna. He was a member of Immacualte Conception Church in Ravenna. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Teresa DiNardo and Mary (Joe) Montini. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Rose DeNardo of Ravenna, his daughter Beth (James) Shank of Ravenna, his brother Frank DiNardo of San Diego, CA and nieces and nephews. A private service was held and entombment has taken place at St. Mary Cemetery in Ravenna. Arrangements have been entrusted to Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeraol Home Ravenna Chapel.
