Merrill C. "Barney" Barnard 89 of Streetsboro, a former longtime resident of Aurora, died Monday, November 23. 2015. He was born August 26, 1926 in Calais, Maine to Walter and Pauline (Minor) Barnard. Barney was a member of Our lady of Perpetual Help Church in Aurora for 50 years where he served both joyfully and faithfully as a Eucharistic Minister. He was an Allstate Insurance Agent for 45 years working out of Solon, Ohio and was a US Army veteran of WWII. Survivors include his wife of 64 years Lois (Schneider), daughters Cathy (Gary) Yax of Hiram, Patty (Dennis - Dec'd) Stuntz of Mantua, Beth Shea of Cleveland, Jennifer (Greg) Mekota of Willowick and Ann (Pete) Gold of Streetsboro, sons Michael (Deborah) of Roanoke, VA, Matthew (Kelly) of Mantua and Tom of Mantua, 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and sisters Jean Pforzheimer of Bangor, Maine and Ann Baker of Calais, Maine. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 grandchildren and a brother John Barnard. Calling hours will be from 10 AM until time of Mass of Christian burial at 11 AM Friday, November 27, 2015 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Aurora. Father James Daprile will officiate. Burial will follow in Aurora City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made in Barney's memory to your favorite charity.
