Mildred E. (Hicks) Courson

Mildred E. Courson, 91 of Ravenna, passed away Thursday July 18, 2019 at Uh Portage Medical Center in Ravenna.  She was born January 16, 1928 in Sandy Lake, PA to the late Arthur and Bessie (Caldwell) Hicks.  Mrs. Courson has lived in Ravenna the past 56 years and had retired from Robinson Memorial Hospital .  She loved being a nurse and spending time with her grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Courson on May 12, 2003, her step granddaughter  Lisa Alascio,  her sister Vera Ewing and her brother Alvin Hicks.  She is survived by her children Patti (Duane) Hicks, Steven (Joan) Courson, her grandchildren Michael Hicks, Brittni Hicks, step great grandchildren Hunter Alascio,  Rhiannon Alascio and siblings Lois Greenlee, Donald Hicks and David Hicks.    Also she leaves her special friends Linda Frankhauser, Julie Piccione, Barb Hicks, Jamie Hicks and Mary Ann Johnson.  There will be no calling hours and services, at her request cremation has taken place.  The family asks that memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Disabled American Veterans  (www.dav.org).  Condolences and memories of Mildred may be shared with her family at www.sscfuneralhomes.com.
