Muriel E. "Betty" Rowen, 87, of Stow, died Friday, August 12, 2011 at Rockynol Nursing Home. She was born on November 13, 1923 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada to the late James Russell and Alva (Kilcup) Darrach. Betty was a member of the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Parma and loved to volunteer at various hospitals. She is survived by her daughters, Alva (John) Hess of Streetsboro and Carol (Bill) Himmel of Wausau, Wisconsin; son-in-law, Jim Clevenger of Kent; eight grandchildren, Jeff (Sarah) Clevenger, Teresa (Tim) Bracken, Joel Clevenger, Melissa (Tim) Sancrant, Kevin Hess, Michele Cain (Dan Mon) Jeremy (Alicia) Clevenger, and Amanda (Ryan) Rothgeb; 13 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marion; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husbands, Lyle Wallace and Rudy Rowen; daughter, Jean Clevenger; sister, Joan; and brother, Lewis. Calling hours will be from 3-7 PM Sunday at the Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Home, Streetsboro Chapel, where a funeral service will be held on Monday at 10AM. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, 6265 Columbia Rd., N. Olmsted, OH 44070. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 10501 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, OH 44106.
