Nicholas Madved 85 of Rootstown, formerly of Austintown died Sunday, January 13, 2013. He was born September 28, 1927 in Youngstown to Anthony and Anna (Kartawy) Madved. Mr. Madved was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Austintown, worked for 30 years for East Ohio Gas in Customer Service and enjoyed playing in various golf and bowling leagues. He served in the US Merchant Marines from 1943 to 1953 and saw action in the Pacific and was in Tokyo Bay when the Japanese surrendered. Survivors include his daughter Cindy Gallagher of Gurnee, IL, sons Nick Peters of Scottsdale, AZ and Jack Madved of Edinburg, OH and grandchildren Sean, Aaron, Chelsey and Kyle. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Delores in 2011, sister Mary and brothers John Madved and Michael Mystic. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel.
