Norma Jean Ellis

Norma Jean Ellis, a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother and great grandmother, and loyal friend passed away on January 12, 2025 at the age of 77.  Born May 2, 1947, Norma is survived by her loving husband Richard Ellis of 40 years, daughter Angela McMasters, son Zteven Ellis, daughter-in-law Mary Ellis, her grandchildren Isabella Ellis, Adalynn Ellis, Alissa and Quinten Sharier, Oliver Herron, Noah Herron, Logan Herron, great grandchildren Ryleigh, Jocilyn, and Finn and her beloved dog Rizzo. Norma was a devoted Teacher’s Assistant who retired from the Rootstown Local School District.  After retirement, she subbed for the Portage County Educational Service Center.  She also worked summers at Safety Town.  She looked forward to having her grandchildren Izzy and Addie every weekend, breakfast on Saturdays at Jim’s Open Kitchen and camping in the summer at Tuckaway Lake Campground.  She spent countless hours watching her grandchildren in cheer, wrestling, bowling, basketball, and school related functions. Norma was a member and Treasurer of the Northeast Ohio US Spyder Ryders Club and loved spending time on the road traveling with her husband Rich and the group on their Spyder. She had a strong faith and was a member of the Passion Community Church. She also enjoyed vacations with her son and his family, spending time with her family and friends, gardening and shopping with her daughter and Cruising to the Bahamas.  Norma was known for her will to live and her kind and generous heart, making friends wherever she went.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Calling hours will be from 2 – 5 PM Sunday, January 19, 2025 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday, January 20, 2025 at the funeral home with Pastor Jason Moore officiating. A graveside service will be held at 1 PM Monday, January 20, 2025 at Woodlawn Cemetery, 200 College Street in Wadsworth, Ohio. In leu of flowers, the family is asking donations be made to the Heart, Kidney, Diabetes, Stroke foundations or the Passion Community Church.
