P. Stephen Nagella

P. Stephen Nagella, age 60, a lifelong resident of Ravenna died on Monday, November 5, 2012 in the Palliative Care Unit at Akron City Hospital. From his birth on February 16, 1952 in Ravenna to his death on Monday he displayed his strength and will to live. He was born at Robinson Memorial Hospital to James and Angela C. (Delano) Nagella. Survivors include his mother Angela C. Nagella of Ravenna, sons Abraham of Ravenna, Michael of FL and Mark of Ravenna, grandson Issac, sister Beth Ann (William) Stone of Ravenna and former wife Margie Nagella of Shalersville. He was preceded in death by his father James and brother James "Jimmie", Jr. He worked in construction, displaying a true knack for the trade. He would smile, wink and say; "I'm an artist and a genius too." Stephen truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; playing his guitar, dancing, writing poetry, singing, playing golf and playfully razzing his mother. Stevie known as "Sammy" to his golf buddies never failed to remind us of his great golf accomplishment of 2 holes in one. He expressed how he felt about life in a poem he wrote, "Without money, a house, a car, new clothes, friends, shoes, a life then what is there? I say a lot more. There is no life without Christ. There is no love without Christ. There is no essence of being without Christ. So I'll stay without to be within my Lord. Where there is no without only within." Stephen will be remembered as a free spirit spreading smiles, love and laughter to those who crossed his path. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Sunday, November 11, 2012 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel with friends received one hour prior to the service from 1 PM to 2 PM. Rev. Mark Simone will officiate. Private burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Stephen's name to Robinson Visiting Nurse & Hospice, 6847 N.
