Patricia Ann (Holmes) Mohler

Patricia (Patty) Ann Mohler , age 77, passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2018. She was born on October 8, 1941 in Elkins, WV to Gerald and Louise (Daniels) Holmes. Patty retired from the Portage County Sheriff’s Office in 1999 after 30 years of service. During that time, she served as a corrections officer, road patrol officer, and detective before she finally found her niche as a dispatcher. It was in the dispatch center that she gained the respect of law enforcement personnel throughout Portage County and “ Mom Mohler” became a nickname that she was proud of. Patty grew up an only child. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband Carl (1989) who was the love of her life. She is survived by her children, Vicky (Gary) Overfield, Cassandra ( Eric) Finnegan, and Richard (Amy) Mohler, her grandchildren, Brian (Rachel) Mohler and Carley Finnegan, as well as several great grandchildren and step grandchildren and her cousin, Barbara Digman. Anyone who knew Patty would tell you that her family was her whole life and that she was happiest when she was spending time with them. Christmas was her favorite time of year and she will be truly happy to be spending it with Carl this year, in Heaven. Memorial calling hours will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at The New Testament Baptist Church located at 3583 W Main Street in Ravenna, with a Memorial service to follow at 12:00pm. Reverend Bob Burgess will officiate.  There will be a Celebration of Life dinner immediately afterwards in the reception hall at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Shorts  Funeral Home, Ravenna chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Portage County Dog Warden, 8120 Infirmary Rd Ravenna, Ohio 44266.
