Patsy M. Vance 64 of Ravenna, passed away Wednesday February 3, 2016 at the Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Hts., Ohio. She was born November 14, 1951 in Suffolk, Virginia to the late Robert and Mary (Lilley) Morris. Mrs. Vance has lived in Ravenna since 1980. She retired from the Euclid School System in 2007 as a reading teacher and also had worked for Kent State University as an instructor. Before coming to Ohio she graduated from UNCG with a masters degree in Child Development and also taught preschool in North Carolina. Teaching children to read was her greatest passion. Survivors include her husband Donald B. Vance whom she married December 29, 1981, her sons Alex Vance of Wilmington, NC, Nick Vance of Ravenna, OH, her sister Molly (Thomas) Alexander of NC, her nephews Bryan (Wendy) and Graham Alexander and great nieces Emma, Sara, Isabella and Easton. At her request cremation has taken place and private family services will be held at a later date in Sunbury, NC. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Portage County APL, North Carolina Nature Conservancy or the World Wildlife Fund.
