Paul Joseph Meighen

Former Mayor, proud Irishman, and avid Cleveland Browns fan, Paul J. Meighen 91 of Streetsboro, died Saturday, September 3, 2016. He was born March 5, 1925 in Byesville, Ohio to George and Pearl (Lowe) Meighen. Paul was a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Streetsboro, was an arborist and worked for RJR Filmco in Aurora. He served as a Councilman and Charter Chairman before becoming Mayor of Streetsboro from 1976 to 1978. Survivors include his wife Dorothy (Vlcek), daughter Constance (Thomas) Cichon of Streetsboro, son Paul W. (Keri) Meighen of CA, grandchildren Samuel (Meggie) Sexton and Mara Alane Meighen and great grandchildren Conner and Cooper Sexton. Calling hours will be from 5 - 7 PM Monday, September 12, 2016 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Streetsboro Chapel where funeral services will be held at 1 PM Tuesday, September 13, 2016. Reverend Mike Conklin will officiate. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Streetsboro. Memorials should be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
