Ralph C. Monroe 101 of Ravenna passed away Wednesday April 11, 2012 at Robinson Memorial Hospital. He was born September 1, 1910 in Ravenna to the late Frank G and Evelyn (Skilton) Monroe. Ralph retired in 1973,after 40 years for the  Ohio Edison Company where he was the Accounting Department Supervisor and after retirement, he did bookkeeping part time at Myers Home Service. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Ravenna where he served on the building and endowment committees, was a boy scout leader, was a member of the Unity Lodge #12 F&AM. He enjoyed dancing with Town & Country square dance, Lakemore Western Whirlers, and also did yoga at the RAC in Ravenna up until his death. Mr. Monroe enjoyed keeping track of his family heritage tracking down where his great grandfathers came from, His great grandfather Hesekiah Monroe came from Litchfield Co. CT in 1834, his great grandfather Alexander Cameron came from Scotland in 1854, his great grandfather Elijah Steel Skilton came from Watertown, CT in 1832 and his great grandfather George Breese came from Mundesly (Norfolk Co.) England in 1874. Survivors include his children, Marilyn Porter, Marjorie (Jerry) Coia, Robert (Joan) Monroe, and Richard Monroe; grandchildren, Elizabeth, James and Becky Rubin, Christine (Todd) Thompson, Charles (Debbie) Porter, Michael (Jodie) Coia, Don (Cathy) Coia, Deborah (Dom) Giampietro, Sharon (Tom) Fulton, Matthew (Kathleen) Monroe, and Tabitha (Meredith) Monroe; step-grandchildren, Michael (Erin) Brna and Brian Brna; 17 great-grandchildren; Five great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents , he was preceded in death by his wife Helen in 2008, one great grandson Brandon Coia, brothers George A. and Rollin S. Monroe and sister Ona LaRue Monroe Smith. Calling hours will be 3:00 PM until time of memorial services at 4:00 PM Sunday April 15, 2012 at the First Christian Church in Ravenna with Rev. Dr. Perry Mattern Officiating. Private Burial will follow at a later date in Maple Grove Cemetery Ravenna, Ohio. The family requests that in lieu of flowers , memorial donations may be made to First Christian Church, Ravenna Christian Cupboard or Meals on Wheels.
