Rebecca B McCardel

Rebecca B. Barrett McCardel 87 of Kent passed away Thursday, March 19, 2026 at Cleveland Clinic Akron General in Akron, Ohio. She was born December 20, 1938 in Chicago, IL to Carper and Harriett (Francis) Grimm. Rebecca was a member of St. Peter of the Fields Catholic Church St. John Neumann Parish in Rootstown and worked as a teacher's aide at Weaver School in Tallmadge. Survivors include her children Jim Barrett (Shelley Christian) Michelle (Curt) Grimes 2 grandchildren Cory ( Rachel) Grimes, Zach (Emily) Grimes, 4 great grandchildren Carson, Oliver, Parker, Emerson and a brother Dr. Stephen Frederick Grimm(Dr. Eleanor) and many loving Nieces & Nephews . She was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands Thomas Barrett and Larry McCardel. A memorial mass will be held at 10 AM Saturday, April 11, 2026 at St. Peter of the Fields St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 3847 Old Forge Road, Rootstown, Ohio. Immediately following, burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron, Ohio. There will be a celebration of life following the burial.
