Richard D Caris

February 17, 1928 — July 8, 2011

Richard D. Caris Passed away Friday July 8, 2011, after a couragous battle with laryngeal cancer. , and is now in the arms of our loving Father. Richard was born February 17, 1928 to Fred and Ada (Kline) Caris. He met and married Norene Marsh  Barnette in February 1965 and adopted her 3 children. Nyla Caris Parker, Ravenna, Vaughn "Bud" (Gloria) Caris of Ravenna, Kimberly (Doug) Good of Savannah Georgia. Richard was a Korean war veteran and served out country well. He was awarded a purple heart.Richard was a brick mason by trade until he retired in 1981. For enjoyment, Richard loved Antique tractor shows and was an avid Nascar fan and enjoyed fishing trips in Canada. Richard was full of fun and laughter and most seem to love him and thought he was cute... he was very ornery and folks outside the family loved this about him. Richard is survived by his children listed above, Nephew Fred (Patsy) Halsne of Hartwell,  Georgia, and Great Nephew Aaron Halsne (Amy), of Monroe Falls. He is also survived by his Grandchildren,  Grant Backus of Bluffton South  Carolina, Arden Backus of Statesboro,  Georgia, and Rhonda L. Caris of Merritt Island,  Florida, James Graham of Pennsylvania, LouAnn Graham and Jeramy Cotrill of Warren, Elizabeth Graham and Jason Miller or Newton Falls, Ohio, Dorothy Parker of Warren, Michelle Parker of North Carolina.He is also survived by very special friends Bernie Few of Ravenna, John and Kim Lemmon of Ravenna,  Clarence and Linda White of Ravenna. Family would like to thank those folks for all they have done over the years. He also leaves behind a very special caregiver for the first year of his battle, Lindsay Crago. He loved you very much Lindsay. Thank You! Richard was preceded in Death By His Wife Norene, Brother Fritz, Parents Fred and Ada, and sister Virginia Halsne.He is also survived by a very special lady friend .We thank her for the loving care she gave him for the first year of his fight. Thank You! Creamation has taken place, the burial of his and Norene's ashes will take place at a later date. Burial will be in Mapel Grove Cemetery. There are no calling hours or funeral at his request. At this time, Family would especially  like the thank  Crossroads Hospice, and Woodlands at Robinson for the loving care they gave him the last few weeks of his life.
