Robert Damon Cook 86 of Rootstown passed away Saturday October 10, 2015 at University Hospitals Portage Medical Center.  After growing up in Kent, Mr. Cook has spent most of his adult life in Rootstown.  He retired from  the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union Local 219 out of Akron and was a member of St. Peter of the Fields Church in Rootstown where he also belonged to the Knights of Columbus.  He was a veteran of the US Marines, proudly serving his country in WW II.  Survivors include his children Helen Cook, Karen (Bud) Sworak, Bob (Linda ) Cook, Joan Cardinal, Jean (John) Anderson, Dave (Carol) Cook, Ray Cook, John Cook, Nancy (Doug) Campbell, Mark Vaughn,  his grandchildren Lindsay, Travis, Laura, Danielle, Jason, Tom, Sarah, Lisa, James, Matthew,  Michael, John Paul, Stephen, Matthew, Christine, Greg, his great grandchildren Kamron, Jaelynn, Hannah, Robert Owen, his siblings Joan Cook, Irma Spaeth, John Cook, Paul Cook, many nieces and nephews and his special friend Jeanne Paulus.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Allene on June 23, 2003, his siblings Mary Eileen Hogan, Raymond David Cook, William B. Cook , James Cook and Martha Lee.  There will be no calling hours.  A  memorial mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 AM on Tuesday October 20, 2015  at the old chapel at St. Peter of the Fields Church in Rootstown, Ohio with Father David Misbrenner officiating.  Burial with military honors will follow in Homeland Cemetery Rootstown.  The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Rootstown Fire Department.  Condolences and memories of Bob may be shared with the family at www.sscfuneralhomes.com.
