Robert M. Lyon

Robert M. Lyon 87 of Akron, formerly of Kent, passed away Friday, October 5, 2012 at the Emeritus at Stow. He was born June 26, 1925 in San Diego, CA to the late Francis and Carolyn (Berry) Lyon.  He served in the U.S. Navy. He retired from  Kent State University in 1993, was a member of Edinburg United Church, and volunteered for over 10 years at Channels 45/49 PBS.  Survivors include his daughter, Susan Madden of Berea, sons, Keith (Martha) Lyon of Cuyahoga Falls, Mike (Annette) Lyon of South Windsor, CT, 9 grand children, and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lyon whom died July 6, 2008, and a sister, Margaret Dowell.  Cremation has taken place and a private memorial service will be held by the family at a later date. Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home was entrusted with handling the arrangements. The Family would like to send a special Thank you to the staff at Crossroads Hospice and The Emeritus at Stow for all their loving care.
