Robert C. Mullaly passed away at the age of 81 years old on Friday, November 18, 2011. After years of service to his family, community, and others. Born August 30, 1930 in Youngstown, Ohio, Bob was shaped by childhood experiences including the great depression, Catholic School (where he earned the nickname "peanut"), and the local pool hall. During the Korean war, he fought the battle of Fort Knox, Kentucky, having volunteered for every possible duty the Army offered, ending up in the tank corps. On October 10, 1953, he married his sweetheart Martha Jane Clark of Boardman, Ohio and began their 58 year journey together which included, among others things, six wonderful children. Bob worked as a supply sergeant, sign painter, did store window trimming, designed ads for Skorman's Miracle Mart and was an educator. An Adult Education Superintendent, as well as the Business Administrator for the Stow Monroe Falls School District. In addition he and Martha served their community and others through volunteer service which included the Center of Hope in Ravenna, the Rotary Club, the Catholic Church, and Robinson Memorial Hospital. He lent his expertise in business and education in the countries of Hungary and in Poland. Bob was always proud of his Irish roots, Bob and Martha made several trips to "the old sod" where they made so many memories as well as many new friends. Of all the honors and titles garnered in his long and productive life, his two favorite were "Martha's husband" and "Dad". Bob is survived by the love his life, Martha, daughters Kathleen, Colleen, and Cindy, sons Michael, Patrick, and Brian, 17 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and a brother Raymond Mullaly. Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 PM Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel. Mass of christian burial will take place at 10 AM Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at University Parish Newman Center in Kent, Ohio with Father Steve Agostino officiating. (PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH) Burial will take place at 1 PM Wednesday at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, OH. While we will miss him every day, he has left us with a lifetime of memories and has been a shining example of manhood, fatherhood and service. In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family requests that you make a donation in Bob's name to local food banks and other charities whose mission it is to lift and help the less fortunate.
