Robert James Tilden , 77 of Ravenna passed away Wednesday November 11, 2015 at University Hospitals Portage Medical Center in Ravenna. He was born August 30, 1938 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Theodore and Rose (Toth) Tilden. Robert retired from the Ravenna City Fire Department after 36 years of service, following his retirement he continued listening to all calls from his police and fire scanners as it was such a big part of his life. He also had retired from the Portage County Commissioners office after 38 years of service, where he worked as director of maintenance for the Portage County Court House and Portage County Administration Building. He was a member of the New Testament Baptist Church and one of his favorite joys was watching his children and grandchildren play sports for Ravenna. Robert also enjoyed family vacations every year going to the beach and fishing on Cape Hatteras, NC. He and his beloved wife Betty traveled and took many bus trips together. Robert also loved dearly his little beagle "Buddy", where you could always see the two of them on many walks. Survivors include his beloved wife Betty of 58 years, his children Diane (Randy) Wilson, Barb (Rod) Schoch and Sonny (Sheri) Tilden all of Ravenna, his grandchildren Brandi, Jami, Chad, Cory, Lauren, Kevin, Ashley, Amber and great grandchildren Andrew and Aiden. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brotherTed Tilden. Calling hours will be 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM Sunday November 15, 2015 and Monday November 16, 2015 from 11:00 AM until time of funeral services at 12:00 PM the Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Homes Ravenna Chapel. Pastor Bob Burgess will be officiating the services. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery Ravenna, Ohio. The family would like to specially thank the Robinson Visiting Nurse and Hospice for all the loving care and compassion given to Robert and also Judy Rossano's loving care.
