 
  
 Roger Lee May, 68, passed away Monday June 18, 2012 after a courageous battle with COPD, with family members by his side. Roger was born on April 10, 1944 in Searights, PA to the late Carl and Ruth (Hiles) May  and moved to Streetsboro in 1959. Roger was a 1963 graduate of Kent Roosevelt and a US Army  veteran serving as an E-5 Tank Commander in Germany. Roger loved to hunt, fish, camp and ride his 1982 Harley. He was zoning Inspector for Shalersville Township for several years and after moving to Ravenna Township  he served on the Ravenna  Zoning Commission Board for 15 years.  He retired from SK Wellman in Bedford and worked at American Couplers in Kent  before becoming disabled. He was a member of the Ravenna VFW, Ravenna Eagles , Ravenna American Legion and former member of the Ravenna Moose.  He also participated in the Adopted Grandparents program thru the Extension Office. Roger is survived by his loving wife, Darlene (Smith, Kerr) May whom he married in 1990. His daughters , Bonnie (Ed) McKean , Barbara (Russell) Kuklisin, his step daughters Tina Kerr and Kathleen Kendrick.  He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Hannah and Malina Kendrick, Cody and Andrew Kuklisin and Dustin McKean.  His sister Judy (Nick) Tilman and brother Sonny  (Patty) May. Calling hours will be 2-4 & 6-8 PM Thursday June  21, 2012 at the Shorts-Spicer-Crislip Funeral Homes Ravenna Chapel where funeral services will be 1:30 PM Friday June 22, 2012 with Pastor Nick Tilman Officiating. Burial  will follow in Riverside Cemetery Shalersville, Ohio with Military Honors by the Ravenna VFW Post 1055 and the US Army. The family asks that in lieu of flowers that donations be sent to the family to help with medical expenses.
